CHOOSING YOUR LOCATION
electing the perfect location for your photoshoot is a vital element in creating a harmonious and captivating atmosphere that reflects your unique personalities.
As parents, you know what environment will make you and your loved ones feel comfortable and at ease. Whether it's your home or another location that holds sentimental value, choosing the right scene is essential in capturing the perfect essence of your family.

Nature provides the perfect backdrop for family photos, with its diverse landscapes and natural beauty. It creates a relaxed and calming atmosphere that helps capture authentic moments and emotions. The changing natural light adds warmth and drama to photos. Nature also offers endless opportunities for fun and connection, resulting in timeless family photos that will be treasured for years to come.

Perhaps, your cozy and familiar abode with its inviting natural light and charming windows could be the ideal location for your family photoshoot. Don't worry if your home is not perfectly neat or grand, as the warmth and intimacy it offers will be the perfect backdrop to showcase your family's bond and love.
A studio is ideal for minimalistic, yet dreamy motherhood and maternity shoots, providing a controlled and customizable environment with neutral backgrounds and lighting. A studio fee will be applied to your invoice.
Collaborate with me, and let's explore the options that will best reflect your family's style and character.

STYLING GUIDE
Select a color palette of two or three colors that complement each other and create a cohesive look. Always stick to solid colors or subtle patterns, and avoid logos and busy patterns. Choose outfits that fit the location and environment. Opt for light, flowy outfits for the beach, relaxed and cozy for in-home and dress up urban and comfy for a cityscape. Talk to me about what colors will be on the location and compliment the scene by colors that flows well with those.
Embrace the season by wearing outfits that match the weather. Keep in mind the importance of being comfortable and relaxed during the photoshoot. Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident in your own skin, so your true essence shines through in the photos.. Think nursing friendly or anything that makes quick feeds easy breezy.
Bring or have backup outfits ready in case of accidents. For beach shoots bring layers and a change of outfit for the car ride home. Your clothes might be wet and sandy while we shoot.

Have lots of swaddles and blankets out and ready for those new baby shoots. These will be used in many ways and will add texture and convenience into your session. Textures that works well is knits, waffles and linen. Keep them neutral and soft, just like your outfit.

I don’t expect you to shop a whole new wardrobe for your session, but If you feel this is the time to add a few new pieces I can recommend these places:

Zara, Nothing Fits But, Skims, Doën, Diish, Fara Botique, Hatchgal, Daughters of India, Bumpsuit, Opia, Juem Woman, All Things Golden, Linen Naive, A perfect Nomad.

-
Make Your Home Warmer Than Usual: Newborns are sensitive to temperature changes, so ensure your home is a little warmer than usual to keep your baby cozy and comfortable during the session.
-
Keep Your Routines as Usual: It's important to maintain your usual routines leading up to the session to help keep both you and your baby relaxed. Stick to regular feeding and sleeping schedules as much as possible.
-
Make Yourself Comfortable: As the session may last a few hours, make sure you're comfortable by wearing loose-fitting and breathable clothing. Having snacks and water on hand will also help keep you energized throughout the session.
-
Add a Sound Machine: Using a sound machine can help create a soothing environment for your baby during the session. Soft white noise or gentle lullabies can help calm your baby and aid in capturing peaceful portraits.
-
Prepare Swaddles and Blankets: Have a variety of swaddles and blankets available for the session. These can be used for both comfort and style, adding texture and warmth to your newborn portraits.
-
Keep a Huge Glass of Water Out: Hydration is essential, especially for nursing mothers. Keep a large glass of water nearby to stay hydrated throughout the session. Staying hydrated will help you feel refreshed and energized.

Prepare a Cozy Spot for Feeding: If you're breastfeeding, designate a comfortable spot where you can nurse your baby during breaks in the session. This will ensure that both you and your baby are comfortable and relaxed throughout the process.
-
Take Out Your Favorite Props: If you have any special props or accessories you'd like to include in the session, such as heirloom toys or cute bonnets, knitted socks, be sure to have them readily available. These personal touches will add charm and personality to your newborn portraits. Be mindful I don't pose, prop or style your baby - this is a lifestyle session.
-
Enjoy the Moment: Most importantly, relax and enjoy the experience of capturing these precious moments with your newborn. Trust your photographer to guide you through the session and cherish the memories you'll create together.

It's a chance to celebrate your journey, honor the miraculous beauty of motherhood, and showcase your unique essence in a stunning and empowering way. Whether you prefer a whimsical shoot in a field of wildflowers, a cozy and intimate session at home, or an adventurous shoot by the sea, the possibilities are endless.

Flowy dresses, linen shirts, oversized jeans, and cozy knit sweaters are popular choices for maternity sessions. Consider coordinating outfits with your partner and any older siblings if they'll be joining the session.

Bring a Cozy Outfit for After the Shoot: After your session, you'll likely want to relax and unwind. Pack a cozy robe and comfortable outfit to slip into post-shoot, allowing you to transition from the excitement of the session to a moment of relaxation.

PLAN FOR YOUR FAMILY SESSION
I want you to relax and let your true selves shine through. Laugh, play, and interact with one another, and let me capture those natural, authentic moments that truly reflect the unique personalities and connections of your family. This is your chance to spend quality time together and create something truly beautiful, so don't be afraid to let your guard down and enjoy the moment. Trust me to observe and capture these moments in a way that will warm your heart for years to come.
Let me in on how your family enjoy spending time together, what makes your little one engaged, when do they giggle and if they prefer space. I’m all about eyeing out your little ones temprament and by having 2 little ladies myself who is not alway the most camera excited people, I get how it can be.

-
Keep Your Hands Free: Avoid packing a big bag so you can freely engage with each other during the session. If you need to bring anything, I'll be happy to hold it for you.
-
Bring Snacks: Bring along snacks for the family, but avoid giving them out at the beginning of the session. Save lollipops for the end or after the session, as they can't be edited out of photos.
-
Don't Bring a Blanket: If you're having an outdoor session, I have multiple blanket options for us to use. If you're having an in-home session, I'll make sure to bring blankets if needed.
-
Arrive Early for Location Sessions: If your session is outdoors, plan to arrive early to your location to settle in, enjoy some snacks, and change into your new clothing before the session starts.
-
Prepare Your Home: If your session is at home, please have a house photo ready. Don't worry about overdoing it on the cleaning or organizing – I'll make sure to move things around if needed to create the perfect backdrop for your photos.
-
Focus on Each Other: Most importantly, let the small stuff go and focus on enjoying each other's company. Hold hands, look deep into each other's eyes, and cherish the love you share as a family. I'll be there to guide and help you every step of the way.
